Runner of the Year
A Brief Explanation
The Runner of the Year is an award presented to the best all-round athletes
in club irrespective of age or sex.
There are 13 race categories: -
x2 cross-country
x2 ten mile
x2 half marathon
x2 fell
x2 track
x1 open
The latter category is for races of any other distances and trail races
e.g. 5km, mile, marathon etc.
Scoring
Points are awarded on the following basis: -
Your personal time as a percentage of the winners
time. This is then multiplied by an age/sex related factor.
For example: - on the 25th January, 2006, the Mythical 10km race took
place.....

To allow for holidays / illness / injury, only the best nine out of the 13
scores count. Every race you compete in will fit into one of the
categories. Remember, you do not necessarily gain the most points for your
fastest time, it depends on the winners time.
Please note that veteran-only races do not count. The track races are just
for club members and will be held in the summer
How to Register Your Points
Let Kath Robertshaw have the winners' official
time and your own official time. Don't worry if you have had a poor race -
all the points help!
Winners in 2007 were: -
1st Ian Fisher
2nd Kath Robertshaw
3rd Phil Robinson
This year it could be you!
